Ferry delays could qualify for Compensation
Ferry passengers affected by cancellations or delays of more than 90 minutes could soon be entitled to compensation. The EU is looking to extend compensation rules which apply to airline passengers. Ferry passengers could be entitled to compensation of 25%-50% of the ticket price for delays and cancellations.

Heathrow’s T4 connection
The Heathrow Express, which serves all of the airport’s terminals from London Paddington Station, has completed a £1million project to improve the connection with T4. The conclusion of the project sees the journey time between Paddington and T4 cut to 23 minutes – including three minutes for interchange at Heathrow Central.

Flybe puts its stamp on Europe with Air France Codeshare
Flybe is to codeshare with Air France this autumn as part of a strategy to get a stronger foothold in the European business market. The move adds five more routes between the UK and France for Flybe passengers plus seven domestic French routes and 11 international routes. All Flybe services into Paris Charles de Gaulle will connect to the Air France hub, easing transfers onto Air France’s international routes.

Travelodge adds 53 hotels
Travelodge has acquired the leases of 52 Innkeeper’s Lodges from restaurant and pub operator Mitchells & Butler. It claims the deal is the largest in the hotel sector since 2008 and will boost its portfolio to 452 hotels. The budget chain said it is going to spend £10million to bring them in line with the Travelodge brand.

BA merger gets the thumbs up from Europe
British Airways has had the thumbs up from the European Union for its merger with Iberia. The two airlines have been given final regulatory approval along with American airlines by the European Commission on a joint business agreement on transatlantic flights. No conditions have been applied to the merger, which is expected to take place at the end of the year.

TripAdvisor Users: London’s food’s rubbish and Birmingham’s boring
London is the most exciting city in Europe, the easiest to get around and rather clean to boot but forget eating out there and making your money stretch. This is the conclusion of the latest TripAdvisor poll that asked 3000 users about Europe’s cities. Poor old Birmingham got a kicking in the survey. TripAdvisor users in search of holiday romance said the city would not be on their must-see list as only the people of Krakow were more ugly in the whole of Europe.
