Flybe steps in with extra flights
Extra regional flight capacity is being laid on by Flybe in preparation for potential strike action by British Airways cabin crew. Chief commercial officer Mike Rutter said: “Having been thrown into confusion about it, when, how and where their flights might be axed, frustrated passengers have been quick to take advantage of our commitment to ensure they will be able to travel.

Best Western to save UK business £100m a year
Great Britain’s largest group of independently owned hotels will offer free internet access to all customers staying at one of the 275 hotels throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

Bmi new route announcement
Bmi are pleased to announce the launch of their new route between London Heathrow and Berlin, from the start of their summer schedule on 28th March 2010.The four daily frequencies will offer the choice of a two cabin service operated on an Airbus 319 aircraft.

London dances to Tune Hotels
AIRASIA founder Tony Fernandes is to open 15 hotels in London under the Tune Hotels brand. Plans have been unveiled for the hotels which will open over the next seven years as part of a partnership between Tune and private investment firm Queensway Group. The first property to open will be the Tune Hotels.com-Westminster which is due to open later this year.

Spanish Fly fills Birmingham gap
Scheduled flights to Barcelona and Madrid are being started from Birmingham Airport by Spanair this summer. The carrier’s first scheduled services from the UK are due to start in may. Spanair will operate a 168 seat Airbus A320 aircraft on the routes offering a two-class configuration.

New charges for US visitors
US President Barack Obama has given the final go-ahead for a major programme designed to attract more overseas visitors to the US. The new legislation means all overseas visitors to the US will pay between $10 and $17 when they complete the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation (ESTA) form before travelling. The charge is expected to be in place by the end of the year. It will go towards funding a public-private Corporation for Travel Promotion.
